New Details on Manhattan Train Crash as Another Train Accident Occurs in Brooklyn

TrainPlatform

New Yorkers are still demanding answers after a train derailment in Manhattan. New details are slowly emerging, and these details seem to be causing more concern instead of quelling fears. To make matters even worse, new train accidents continue to occur even as this investigation continues. One has to wonder what on Earth is going on with injuries on New York’s transit system. When will these injuries and deaths stop?

“Communication Failure” to Blame for Manhattan Trail Derailment

After the Manhattan train derailment that injured dozens of people, transit authorities have offered a wide variety of potential excuses. First, they pointed to the activity of several vandals – stating that these individuals had triggered the emergency brakes on a train car before leaving. It was these vandals, transit authorities argued, who caused the derailment.

Over time, however, the story changed. While the vandals “partially” contributed to the accident, the blame began to shift onto other factors – such as mechanical errors. Next, the train car operator involved in the crash came forward and gave a drastically different story. According to him, he spotted the disabled train up ahead and alerted his supervisor with more than enough time to spare. However, he claims that he received no response whatsoever from his supervisor. Only his supervisor had the authority to stop the train and avert the collision, and the operator was powerless to stop the collision.

Faced with this new information, the transit authorities seem to have altered their story once again. Now, they are claiming that the crash was caused by a “radio communications failure.” According to them, the radio signal between the operator and the supervisor was disabled somehow – and this represents the primary factor that caused the crash.

One Fatality Reported in Brooklyn Train Accident

Even as transit authorities scramble to explain the derailment in Manhattan, new accidents continue to cause issues across New York. On January 23rd, CBS News reported that a victim had been killed in a Brooklyn train accident. Police revealed very little information about this incident – other than the fact that the victim was found dead on the tracks. No one knows why or how this accident occurred, an investigation is underway.

Key Takeaways
